Hmmmm...seems kind of silly and unnecessary to me to go through the process of building a precision rectifier if the only thing you have to do is reverse the wiring. It's not as if you're going to completely destroy something in a Roland pad by opening it up...there's not much to it, it's still just a couple of piezo leads.

The other thing that I've been thinking about is how you get a positive or negative first half wave signal. For the DIYers, if you have the head piezo with the ceramic lead going to tip and brass to sleeve, rim piezo with brass lead to ring and ceramic to sleeve, you should be good to go.

Actually i have:
Cone piezo: ceramic---sleeve brass----tip
Rim piezo: ceramic---ring brass--- sleeve
Like Rolly, if i'm right.
Cone piezo is ceramic face up
Rim piezo is on the shell, ceramic face up. (so perpendicular to the other piezo)
And i have positive half wave on both (analized with scope)
May be strange, but that's it!

Go for it! See here: http://www.drum-tec.de/meshheads-drumtec-design-c-57_110.html

Greats

Good indeed! But 24 Euro shipping cost is too much.
We need a special price for megadrummers!! :)

On that note, is there a simple way to test for positive or negative first half wave for those of us without access to high-tech expensive scopes? Is there some kind of software tool that can easily be used for the same purpose?

There are scope programs that work with leads attached to your computer sound card. Google search brought up some.

Record your pad signal thru your sound card with a wav editor (es. Reaper, wich is free) and watch the wave.
