problems connecting DIY cymbal to MD

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to get MD to work with a DIY cymbal. I want to use the piezo to switch converter by Keith Raper, but there is no way I can convince MD to see the transistor as a switch. When I short the corresponding wire to ground (ring to sleeve) MD detects this as a after touch note.

Help is welcome...

Basically, you have to find a right Threshold setting on the Edge input which makes the best separation between the bow and the edge hits. This is of course will only work if the Keith Raper circuit works correctly.
