New soon to be user worries!

Postby AndyB » Sat Apr 23, 2016 3:01 pm

Hi guys. I'm very interested in megadrum. I have a dtx900 with the extra max dimms. Hated the sounds. So I experimented for years got rid of the pads. But loved the cymbals. Went to triggering sd 2.0 for recording. Always had issue with poly aftertouch. But since i recorded midi i could delete all the episodes in my daw without an issue. But now. Im in a band who loves the sounds i got from recording. So i made my studio kit my live kit. But the cymbals choke out 've tried everything..new pads..new cables..changing pad setups.midi setups..midi learn in SD 2..still issues. So I am interested in purchasing the 56 input unit. However I have questions?
The dtx900 which I midi USB to solo superior 2.0. Then midi out to Steinberg UR824 to 8 outputs to our PA. I currently use all the pcy 135 (3) 155 135hh and a pcy 65s cymbals. I have 4 E-pro live toms, 2 E-pro live snares and an epro kick. The Yamaha dtx900 and the cymbals are giving me fits. They choke out when I use the midi learn function no matter what I do..change midi..pads..cables. It's been ongoing for years. Can I smoothly and easily use your 56 input unit with the rest of my gear and ditch the Yamaha? Which verion has the least latency and is easy to use? How do you program these units..or set them up with this configuration. Iwhat edrum setting would i use in superior? I don't have time to build one as I hope to use it live soon. Please tell me this would be easier or will I be pulling my hair out again. How is the support? I see AD is supported but not SD or am I wrong. I'm very nervous about taking the plunge but this DTX unit is making me crazy!. Update just bought the 56 input unit in aluminum case..being built. Any tips where to start? Template? Software? Edrum model I should use in superior 2.0? I'd appreciate any help. I'm very nervous.

Congratulations on purchasing the best TMI on the planet! There are some pad/cymbal settings here along with some mappings, courtesy of Anders.

A superb video here by me which may be useful.

I think Dmitri gives links to the documentation on the site here and you can, of course, ask here for specific advice.

Thanks airflamesred! I of course will check all that out. I hope I can get this started ASAP. I know there will be a huge learning curve so I am looking for all the shortcuts I can get. I heard mention of a template for front and back of the unit is there one? Also which programs would I download? I notice there is a lot of info on this forum but alot of it is a few years old..would it still apply? Thanks again.

Where could I get the program you use in this video? Great and informative video by the way.
