Btw, in the 'Audio MIDI Setup' utility does it show MegaDrum as 'MegaDrum USB MIDI'? Did you do 'Rescan MIDI' there with MegaDrum connected?

Hello dmitri,
in the audio-midi setup the megadrum device showed up as "USB-Midi Gerät".
So, i thought that there might be something wrong with the deivce name and after i found the following thread/post i just did the few steps mentioned there.

After this the Megadrum device was listet as MegaDrum USB Midi and it works now. ;)

Your are right. This is not the kind of plug'n play that I'm used from OS X. ;)

thank you for your time and support

Firmware-Update and MDM with MACBookPro and USB?

Postby Funkenzuechter » Wed Nov 30, 2011 5:47 pm

Hello,

i am new here and think about bying/building a MD ( my Yamaha DTX3 has not enough inputs ).
Reading through the forum kept me still confused.
I want to have access to the MD for Updating and for MDM with my MacBookPro ( latest version May 2011) OS Lion over the USB-port, because the Mac does not have a Com-port.
The DTX will still be used ( via Midi ) for sounds, the Mac will not be used for playing samples with e.g. BFD.

Does it work?
Do i need an external USB - Com converter?

Thank you!

Regards
Ralf

Yes.

No. MegaDrum is USB MIDI Class Compliant and works with all modern OSs - Mac OS X (including Lion), Windows 7 32bit/64bit and Linux.

Hi i tested megadrum manager on a airbook (os x 10.7) against my md. Without the mmj stuff you will not see the MegaDrum midi ports. Just to copy two files into the library/java/extensions. The MegaDrum Manager works like clock using the USB+midi speed on your MD. Speeding up...using USB speed 3...will make MDM to become unresponsible...and slow...also your MD.

No external usb power is required.

I am using Config tool on a mid-2011 iMac and everything appears to be fine. I loaded Angr's settings but when I try to change a note. That new note is not reflected in GarageBand. What am I missing?

Example: GarageBand registers Tom 1 as C-1 but in MD Config it should be F1

You should map MegaDrum to what GarageBand expects, e.g. if GarageBand expects C1 for the Tom1 then you must configure MegaDrum to send C1 as well.

Hey Dmitri (and eveyone),

I know this seems like an old post but I recently updated my Mac. Still running OS X Lion (not mountain lion) and in the process of updating it appears that my Java was updated to version 7. Now Megadrum Manager no longer functions.

I still have the mmj library from - http://www.humatic.de/htools/mmj.htm

And they're still in the /Library/Java/Extensions folder which made it work before.

But Megadrum Manager stopped working. Is there anything to do to get it working again?

Thanks,

Mike

Apple doesn't, and won't, provide Java 7. You may have Java 7 installed only if you downloaded it from Oracle and installed it. I have not tested Java 7 on Mac so far. If you indeed installed Java 7 and it doesn't work, you may try to revert to Apple's Java 6 - http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/te ... c-faq.html . Btw, what do you mean by "Megadrum Manager stopped working"?

By stopped working I mean it won't launch anymore. It says I need a Java runtime environment. I did revert to Java 6. I had installed 7 because after the first update (which changed Java somehow -- at least it mentioned Java in the list). So now I'm back at 6 again and it won't Launch.
