Re: Administrator account problem? MDM will not start

If I kill all javaw.exe processes and start MDM again, then a new javaw.exe process appears and nothing else happens.
Kind regards, Rob.

Well, I don't really know what else to suggest. Can you try with another PC/Windows version?

I do not have another PC to try it, but I can re-install Windows XP on one. I'm nearly convinced it has to do with user rights, what else could prevent MDM to write its 'megadrummanager.cfg' to any drive on the PC. That is so weird.

I would think that installing Windows XP with only one admin account from which I also install Java 8.1 and MDM latest revision should be the optimal situation to prevent any user rights issues. Do you agree?
Kind regards, Rob.

It is getting more confusing by the hour. Nothing changed but now I was able to close and restart MDM a few times in a normal way...
Kind regards, Rob.

Well, Administrator can do anything but as I said and re-tested, MDM doesn't need admin rights.

OK, we tried many things and I understand that the problems I encounter with MDM cannot be explained. Dmitri would have known if more users have this same problem, appearently not. And I also see myself MDM sometimes working normally and the next moment not.

If it has to do with Windows/Java security settings or access rights, I tried to remove any restrictions but nothing helps. Maybe another application loaded at startup does the harm, no idea.

So I will prepare myself ;) to make a fresh install of Windows XP, and install nothing else but MDM. I will let you know the results.

I can still find the energy to solve this MDM issue because I start to understand MD and settings better by the hour and start to get good results with the midi mallet controller workbench tests :D .
Kind regards, Rob.

I'm still struggling with this issue that MDM does not start (show its screens). A fresh Windows installation did not solve this issue.

I explained that I encounter the same issue on several computers with different operating systems. Below findings could be interesting information to solve this.

I asked a good friend, he adviced me to start MDM from the command line, what this cli returns may give you a better idea of the reason why MDM does not run (show its screens).

On both machines I used the command 'java -jar MDM.jar' to start MDM. This results in below cli screens, although MDM is executed Java obviously has problems. You see that after execution there is no prompt in the cli. MDM does not show anything (no screen) but as always in Taskmanager the process of Java appears. When I close this process immediately the prompt in the cli returns. Both completely different machines behave the same and they return the same lines in the cli.

Please advice!

What happens if you remove megadrummanager.cfg from the your home dir before you start MDM again?

I tested this on the Win7 machine. I found 2 old megadrummanager.cfg files from August in 2 user home dirs, I removed both.

I restarted MDM using the cli and command 'java -jar MDM.jar' and MDM started! After closing, the cli looked like this.

Then I restarted MDM several times in the same way and it worked every time! Then I started MDM.jar by double clicking and it works, also several times!

I will try this tomorrow on the WinXP machine as well.

So what did the cli screens tell you to come up with this idea? Will this trick also work after a normal installation of MDM?
Kind regards, Rob.

I don't know what it means. I don't get it even when I remove megadrummanager.cfg and start it from cli and exit after that - no errors or warnings.
