Where do I got from here?

Postby kb9jlo » Wed Oct 20, 2010 6:42 pm

I posted this 'piece' of my progress with MegaDrum in the hardware section. Dmitri suggested posting it here.

Moving on from here - I need some help figuring out how to get this thing to make some "noise" at some point. I have Toontrack Solo & EZ Drummer. I can see the MegaDrum and make it my MIDI device but I have no idea how to go from there. I have not chosen any software in particular. I'm mainly only interested in using the PC as a sound box. I don't care what software I use as long as I can choose/customize which samples I use for which pads.

Does anybody have a "dummy's guide" to getting beyond, the [b]"Yes it works now"
stage now??

I haven't played drums in years and this was how I decided I would get back into it. I'm very computer savvy but I have no experience with MIDI or sequencers...
How about a really dumb app that just lets you know, yes, you can trigger a sound??

Well, I'm assuming that the process of getting stuff set up with EZDrummer is much the same as with Superior since they're both from Toontrack. There's a Megadrum Superior wiki somewhere...do a search for that and it should help you with some of the initial set up stuff. Even if they're not exactly the same from EZD to Superior, my guess is that you can refer to the set up for Superior (as it describes in the wiki) and find the equivalent set up steps in EZD.

Beware...based on my very limited experience so far, it's satisfying to have gotten this far (as you mentioned), but it's also infuriating to get stuck on something and not be able to find the answer/solution (see my thread on Superior possessing my computer).

A good start is MIDI knowledge:

Be aware! You may become a MIDI addepted!! :? and forced to install a 5pin DIN connector somewhere on your body...
