BFD2 and HI HAT settings

Hi,

I've some problem with BFD2. I'm using a Yamaha RHH 130 HiHat. I would calibrate this on like this tutorial :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Uu45pQT5DY

I'd make all what it explain on this video (except "midi select" option, i've an older bfd2 version)

If I play on close or open position, I've always the same 1/4 HH close position sound like if the pedal has no effect (while I've red colours on the different HH position)

bfd2 is supposed to fend for themselves with these three parameters

First, If BDF2 uses CC data for pedal positions than you don't need to configure OpenLvl, SOpenLvl, HOpenLvl or ClosedLvl in MD. Set these to zero. You also should use the same note for all Open,Semi Open,Half Open and Closed. In my setup only bowclosednot is set to 42 and the edgeclosednote is set to 22 + the high/low value for the hihat. The rest is zero.

This will leave all the sound and pedal inteligence to BDF2 instead.

However, it Sounds strange if BDF2 is indicating 1/4 in red and you get the wrong sound...or did i get this wrong?

Best regards

Anders

Hi,

Thank for reply,
You're allright about it. I've set all note position to 0. I've try to set a note for bowclosednote and edgeclosednote, but these notes aren't send.

I can hit my pad with variable hat, sound doesn't change.

Dimitri advised to set cc number to 4, what it could change if I set a greater value?

It is always cc:4 when dealing with hihats. (It is a channel...sending 0 to 127 depending on where the pedal position is)

You should be able to see the pedal moving in BDF2...regardless of configuration on the notes etc.

Check that BDF2 is actually recieving on cc:4. (Check which channel BDF2 receives midi data in general. I would suggest that you use the MegaDRUM Midi Port 2. (So you can use the port 1 for MegaDrum Manager)

Here, the three tab of HH parameters :

Here, the HH pad tab and midi raw :

(why I've C-1 notes, while it could send only D#-1 and C#-1?)
I select "dual or 3way yamaha" and "piezo" for second sensor, I don't know why, if i select switch, the second sensor doesn't work)
Is it possible I have another jack crosswire problem?

Here my HH yamaha & megadrum

Here BFD2, you could see the red stance "open" and the BFD2 midi raw

Here a video... I hit pad, I change HH level... always the same sound

Question: In the MegaDRUM Manager Midi RAW monitor...does your pedal change at all when pressing the pedal? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/228/megadrum1.jpg/

Dear Anders,

Yes, when I press the pedal, I have the pink bar's variation : 126 for open and 0 to close HH. E-1 is the note corresponding to this (like the picture)

I would like to know how have you set octave to get the same note between MD and your drum soft ? I didn't be able to set the same notes...

Regards

Hi.

Relax about the notes for the moment. Check your bdf2 software if the pedal values is moving between your pedal zones. MD is sending the right information so i am guessing you need to check your software if it receives on cc 4 for hihat information. If this right set..you will see your pedal move between the zones.

Hi,
in this picture : http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/805/megadrum5.jpg/
we can see different velocity values associated to [CC4]...
I can see pedal move between the zones : red box change if I'm open, semi, etc, close...
I can't say more :|
