Mapping - alternating notes ( MD - Superior D2)

Postby maartend » Fri Jul 05, 2013 9:03 pm

Hi there,

Anyone can help us figuring out what we're doing wrong?

When we hit the same pad, it alternates between two different midi notes. One of them is an "unmatched key" in superior drummer and gives no sound.
How can we change the settings so that the pad sends only one (and the same) note?
When eg snare is set to note D1, an alternate signal is coming in inside superior drum ( D1 and C-2), this C-2 note is coming back in allmost all pads, eg tom1.
When the floor is hit this problem does not occur.

What's going on?

Assign the same note to anote as note. If you're using MDM you can tick the box at alt note and pressroll note.

Thx before for the quick response!!
OK, we are using MDM and assigned anotes the same as notes, next thing happens:
instead of 2 signals (1 of each channel) we are getting 3 now, each pad is sending the 3th note and it's the same.
Why is this happening? Is the solution not to sign this note in SD2?

You hit the pad one time and you get two, three or more Note On messages, don't you? You have double triggering. See http://www.megadrum.info/content/pads-settings and in particular DynLevel, DynTime. Of course you have to configure Threshold, Gain, HighLevel as well.

I'm not sure if we talk about the same problem here,
I think I didn't explain it well, so here I try again:
After setting note, anote, bnote, bpnote to the same value eg C0, so that on one pad I should only have one signal coming inside SD2,
instead I have 2 signals coming in, C0 en F#2. each pad I assign to a different note (I set all notes available on a input to one note, each pad is set to different notes )I get inputs of each pad to this F#2.
In the beginning I was thinking I was doing something wrong but I tried several input settings and I always getting out on this problem.

I'm not having any problem when I hit a pad that I'm hearing this pad twice or repeatedly, I think this is what you mean by double triggering no? I'm not the expert on the matter but I thougt I knew something about these settings like treshhold, dyn level and stuff
Anyway I'm doing something wrong, but can't see what.
Thx for helping me out here

Do you have a pad with f#2 assigned?

I think not (can't say for sure cause the kit isn't at my home) What we've tried before is pulling out of the inputs 1 by 1 to be sure it's not an input - jack problem. I tried also to use mono jack instead of stereo jack, remains the same.
I don't believe it's a hardware problem because I had several pads where it was ok, then when we started over to set the mapping again the problem appeared on pads where it didn't appear before
I try to find out as soon as I can to be sure that F#2 isn't assigned.

Are these single or dual zone pads?

all dual zone,
I used a roland TD3 and roland TD6 with some extra cymbal pads,
so basically the set exists out of:
7 x PD-8
1 x PDX-100
2 x KD-8
1 x CY-5 (for HiHat)
8 x CY-8
1 x FD-8

I think they all have been set as piezzo

That's an impressive list of pads.

My Suggestion would be ; Unplug the pads, Plug one pad in with a stereo cable and see what happens. Make a note of note, alt note etc for both head and rim inputs. It may then become apparent what the issues are.
