I have installed Windows 8.1 on my computer a few days ago.
Just tried to connect my MegaDrum, no luck...

Please note that I have no idea on how to troubleshoot this issue.
My MD always worked with Windows 7 and even with XP, I've had it for years.

When I look for my MD in Device Manager it doesn't show up as MegaDrum.
If I remeber correctly it did show up as MegaDrum under Windows 7.

The device status is as follows:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A device which does not exist was specified.

Please help me troubleshoot this issue, I would like to play my drums again.

Is it a full Windows 8 version and not some sort of a stripped down version?

It is a legal version of Windows 8.1 Core.

Any tips to troubleshoot are welcome.

The good news is that it will work. I'm not techy enough to help much I'm afraid.

What happens when you do Update Driver on the device and let Windows to do driver search?
Post a screenshot of the "Driver File Details".

I fixed the problem!

The first time I connected my MD it showed up as MegaDrum for just a little while.
Then Windows install a driver and it turned into a unknown device on a COM port...

Here is what I did to fix it.
1. Disabled automatic installation of drivers, how to.
2. Connect my MD to my pc, it shows up as an unknown device on a COM port.
3. Via Device Manager I unistalled the driver for the unknown device. (Double click the icon > go to Driver tab and click uninstall)
4. Disconnect and reconnect my MD, it now shows up as MegaDrum MIDI USB!

It seems there was a problem with either Windows installation or built-in drivers - it should never install COM drivers for MegaDrum because it is a USB Audio and in particular a USB MIDI device.
