Roland CY-8 Setup

Postby kromberg » Fri Aug 04, 2017 7:24 pm

I have having trouble trying to setup a couple of CY-8 pads. I have tried a couple of the predefined ones from Mega Drum Pad Library, but I can not get them to work. I have them setup as follows:

  • Dual or 3way Yamaha type on head/bow
  • switch type on Rim/Edge
  • Note, Alt Note, Pressroll Note the same value on Head/Bow
  • Note, Alt Note, Pressroll Note the same value on Rim/Edge ( different value than Head/Bow )
  • Note, Alt Note, Pressroll Note, Dampened Note the same value on 3rd Zone ( different value than Head/Bow and Rim/Edge)
  • 30 Threshold 30 for Head/Bow, Rim/Edge, 3rd Zone
  • High Level of 620 on both Head/Bow and Rim/Edge
  • Gain 2 on both Head/Bow and Rim/Edge
  • Log2Custom3 for the curce on both Head/Bow and Rim/Edge

Everything else is the same as here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q1osfrigdmxb8cu/CY-8.syx

It seems that always the 3rd zone note is getting triggered no matter if I hit the edge, rim, or choke the cymbal. Looking at the raw midi data view, it is only the 3rd Zone note that is getting turned on and off.

I have messing around with things for a couple of days and do not seem to be getting any where. Anyone have any ideas or tips?

If it's a dual zone cymbal, disable the 3rd zone.
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.

If you disable the 3rd zone, how do you assign the damping note?

Literally, anything that is changed does not make a single bit of difference. Send the change, save the slot, power MD, power back on, and still the same behavior. I am getting ready to toss this pile into the trash.

Set all the Notes in the 3rd zone equal to Notes in the Edge zone except Dampened Note if you use it.
