SD2.0/DTXpressIVSv2 - Sounds Drop Out!?

Hello to all... I recently bought a Yamaha DTXpress IV Special v2 & have been trying to configure it with Superior Drummer 2.0... The app is pretty involved which is just what i need as I want it to be able to trigger all 3 zones on the cymbals plus the multiple variations on the hi-hat... and more if possible???.

Ultimately I want to be able to rehearse & play gigs with the kit connected to SD2.0...

My PC specs are:

Asus P5KPL Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX
Creative SB Audigy 2
4GB RAM
XP Pro SP2

The kit is connected to my PC by a MIDI/USB cable only... I have got as far as assigning each pad to the desired piece & responds with very little latency, however when i hit any pad at a steady pace, SD2.0 doesnt respond & i have to wait a second or two before i can hit the pad again to get a response??... it's like it overloads from too much data or something & it can only take hits in slow doses!?... yet i can mouse click on each piece in SD2.0 as fast as I want & responds no problem!?

I've turned all Bleeding settings to minimal...from what i can gather, it's potentially something to do with the ASIO driver....

I have x4 ASIO's that show in 'Audio Devices' within SD2.0... x3 of them are the bundled drivers for my Creative SB Audigy 2 soundcard:

1. Creative ASIO
2. SB Audigy 2 ASIO 24/96 [EC00]
3. SB Audigy 2 ASIO [EC00]

the 4th one is the generic ASIO4ALL v2 driver which i downloaded as the above 3 all give the 'Failed to load audio driver' message.

Ive played with the system tray settings of the ASIO4ALL driver, increasing buffer size etc but still no progress...

Any specific suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

Whip out something like MIDI-OX and find out what MIDI the Yammy module is sending. If the module is sending the correct MIDI, it's the software. If it's not, it's the module settings or the USB MIDI device.

Fast hits = fast MIDI note generation. If you don't see a MIDI note for each hit in MIDI-OX, look into the module settings for the pad for things like retrigger.

Dunno if it helps but there are two ways to get a note off - send a note off command or send the note on command with zero velocity - megadrum uses the note off command.

I don’t believe the Creative SB Audigy 2 ASIO driver will run at 44.1kHz, it is locked to 48kHz thus the 'Failed to load audio driver' message. I know Superior Drummer & Toontrack SOLO require 44.1kHz. You can trick it with ASIO4ALL (set the buffer size to 128 samples), however the sound WILL NOT trigger 100% of the time.

I pulled my Audigy 1 and got PCI version of the 0404 from E-MU (for $100 USD) and it is awesome. The 0404 has Hardware-accelerated Effects and Hardware Mixing / Monitoring that uses no CPU power. If you’re looking for low latency real time performance then this is worth it. Just a warning, I had to reload my OS to get rid of the old Audigy driver’s completely.

The entire point to ASIO is to bypass Windows internal processing because if it's latency issues. The ASIO drivers are not part of the Windows subsystem. The Creative SB Audigy hardware is set to 48kHz and accepts connectivity to ASIO devices utilizing some of the Windows resources.

The 0404 will operate at the audio hardware level at 44.1kHz via ASIO and completely bypass the Windows subsystems. The 0404 can emulate WDM audio devices drivers for non ASIO compatibility.

ASIO4ALL is a software layer that will trick the application into believing you have hardware that is not there, I had to set the check box for 'Always Resample @44.1k' on ASIO4ALL to get SD20 to work before I changed to the EMU hardware.

I use a MegaDrum 2.8 kit with SD2.0, it runs like a train. Sometimes my soundcard doesn't seem to be able to handle the crash sounds. Instead of going ''crashhh'' it goes ''crashh bzzt crack''. No big problem imo.

I use my Acer laptop for drumming. I connect my MD via usb and use the asio4all drivers.

Did you try you onboard soundcard, it might work very well.
Do you disable the onboard soundcard in the bios when using the creative card?
Maybe you should update to SP3. Even better would be to upgrade to Win 7 64 bit. You are wasting 1 gig or ram because you are running a 32 bit OS.
