Yamaha PCY-155 and Addictive Drums

Postby nordmanjc » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:39 pm

I'm having problems getting the three zone ride to work in Addictive drums.

The cymbal pad is Yamaha PCY155. With the settings below, I get only the bell sound on all three zones.

CH06:RideB

MNote D#3 51 (Ride Tip sound)
Note D#3 51
ANote D#3 51
PNote D#3 51

Channel 10
Special Yes
Curve Log1
ComprLvl 0
LvlShift 0
Xtalk 4
XtalkGrp 1
Threshold 30
Gain 4
HiLvlAuto Yes
HighLevel 883
Retrigger 8
DynLevel 12
DynTime 24
MinScan 20
Dual Head Yes

CH07:RideE
MNote F3 53 (Ride Shank sound)
Note F3 53
ANote F3 53
PNote F3 53
Channel 10
Special Yes
Curve Log1
ComprLvl 0
LvlShift 0
Xtalk 4
XtalkGrp 1
Threshold 30
Gain 4
HiLvlAuto Yes
HighLevel 877
Retrigger 8
DynLevel 12
DynTime 24
MinScan 20
Type Switch

MBNote D3 50 (Bell sound)
BNote D3 50
ABNote D3 50
DBNote D3 50
PBNote C-1 0
DualMidPoint x
DualMidWidth x
BThreshold 5

Clearly there is something wrong with these settings, because the only sound I get is the bell sound on all three zones. I also did the 'Set All EdgeSw' and 'Set All BellSw' tutorial as explained here: http://www.megadrum.info/content/settin ... one-cymbal

What happens when you set BThreshold to 1?

Unfortunately nothing changes, I still only get the bell sound on all zones.

It's OK, I guess the Megadrum is too advanced for me. I think I should just give up, obviously I have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks for trying to help though, Dmitri, you've been very patient.

I don't understand why you still get Bell zone with BThreshold set 0, which effectively disables the Bell zone, but since you have given up I guess it will stay a mystery.
For others it might be useful to know - I have a PCY-135 Yamaha cymbal, which is similar to Yamaha-155, and when Gain is left at default 4, I get all three zones with Threshold set to 38 and BThreshold set to 16. Of course these values may vary slightly for others - plus/minus 5 with Gain 4.

Ah, thanks to this old thread I finally got my PCY-155 perfectly configured - all three zones are triggering accurately without any false triggers or dynamic problems - I just had to reset threshold and gain which where set to totally different values for my old Cymbal, that was far to hot. Yet another step towards the perfect drumset - I'm loving the megadrum more and more with every new day ;-)
