Megadrum Manager - Mac OsX Lion

Postby zenoise » Tue Aug 30, 2011 8:17 am

Has anyone been able to run megadrum manager with lion?

Mine can't communicate with the module, and i'm clueless about what to try in order to make it work...

The mandolane MIDI SPI appears to be useless now, as it is stated on the website:http://www.mandolane.co.uk/

-----edit-----

more info: the midi monitor is working, but i'm not able to retrieve settings from the megadrum

hi zenoise,

have exactly the same problem. Emulate Windows via Parallels or Vmware Fusion and it will work!

Seems like Lion is not supported ,yet.

I just tried MDM on Mac Os X Lion with mmj library - http://www.humatic.de/htools/mmj.htm - and it worked!

Hi dmitri,
i have tried mmj on my iMac with 10.7 Lion but had no success.

All i have to do is to copy the files mmj.jar and libmmj.jnilib into /Library/Java/Extensions as stated in the readme.txt, right ?

Or is there another step thas has do be done so that mdm uses mmj.

This is exactly what I did. And it worked straight away. Make sure you don't have older mmj versions or Mandolane SP still in the system messing it up.

ok, thx dmitri.

That's strange.
If i look which files, proccesses the megadrum manager has loaded, I can see that the both files from mmj are loaded (see Screenshot).

But they have no affect.

1. In Java Preferences do you have both 64-bit and 32-bit enabled and 64-bit listed first?
2. Did you remove all the traces of Mandoline SP?
3. What MIDI interfaces do you use in MDM?
4. Does MDM detect firmware version?
5. Can you try on another Mac?

Yes, both are enabled and 64Bit is first.

dmitri wrote:2. Did you remove all the traces of Mandoline SP?

I did a clean install of Lion a week ago because I wanted to get rid of possible old stuff.

dmitri wrote:3. What MIDI interfaces do you use in MDM?

I use the one labeld USB-Midi-ger (see Screenshot)

dmitri wrote:4. Does MDM detect firmware version?

No. sadly not.

dmitri wrote:5. Can you try on another Mac?

I wish I could. ;)

Maby the upcoming Java 1.7 Release fixes this whole Java/Midi Stuff.
I tried the Developer Beta but with the 1.7 Beta mdm didn't start at all.

My Java Version is:
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03-383-11A511)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02-383, mixed mode)

This means mmj is not kicking in, otherwise you would see 'MegaDrum USB MIDI - Port 1'.

I tested it on a brand new MacBook Air with Mac OS X 10.7.1 with the latest Java (1.6.0_26-b03-383) which it installed automatically when MacBook prompted to do so on the first day. I installed Mandoline SP first - it didn't work. After this I installed mmj and it worked straight away (and it still works fine - tested just a few minutes ago). Besides those I have only XCode with latest iOS SDK installed after that and nothing else.
