Hi!

I have done some studies on positional sensing...for my own project using MD + the nice rectifier board. The MD supports upto 5 drums with the PS function. It is sending control change over cc16. This channel seems to be default for snares. Studying VST plug-ins like Addictive Drums it is supporting cc messages on hihat(cc4), snare(cc16, possible to change) and Ride(cc17, possible to change)

Two questions
1 does it matter which cc channel is used e.g cc16...when dealing with several drums or do each drum need to have its own cc number? Studying the TD-30 manual...they seems to pack all tooms/aux trigger channels into cc18-cc19)
2. Addictive Drums do support 3 types of drums to receive cc messages and have sounds that maps to support this...do any other drum plug-ins support more? Superior, Steven Slate?

1. I don't think there is any standard for this. CC16 message is sent right before NoteOn so even for multiple PS pads using just a single CC16 theoretically is enough for sampling software to correctly decide to modify only the a note coming right after CC16. The other way is to use different MIDI channel for each PS pad.

Am I right...if counting to 8 inputs with the ability to handle Posistional Sensing in the last firmware??

The 8 channel of positional sensing are avaible only if you have an atmega 1284 , with the 644 you can use pos sensing only in one channel ( snare OR tom OR ride etc..)

On Atmega644 it's 4 inputs with positional sensing.

Hi!

When using the positional sensing function, Atmega 644 supports 4 inputs, Atmega 1284 supports 8 inputs, but how many inputs do the nice rectifier board support? 5 inputs? True?

No big deal...just for the knowledge...5 is overkill any way and will be more than enough for everybody!!
