Megadrum Manager as VST Plugin?

Postby Nepo » Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:17 pm

Hi Dimitri,
I'm busy in finetuning with my Pads and I use mainly the confortable MDM.
It is not possible to use MDM at the same time with the Drumsofware.
It would be nice to hear the changes over MDM at the same time.
Would it work if the MDM could be integrated as a VST plugin?

Thanks for comment

Hi!
A common mistake many MD users do...is to not use the dual midi port implementation found in MD.

Just by connecting the MD over USB will actually give you two midi ports: MegaDRUM Port 1 and MegaDRUM Port 2 - visible in both your software's like MDM and VST plugins like Addicitive DRUMS / Superior Drums etc.

The ports are completely equal and sends/receives the same information. The fine thing is that you could use e.g PORT 1 in MDM and Port 2 in your drum software. You are then be able to use both your software's at the same time without any problems!

No big need for a VST version of MDM! OR? :-)

Hello Angr77,
you are right, it works.
I have to start the MDM first an then the Drumsoftware, thats it.
I did it another way round and MDM gave an error message...

Thanks for info, now I can go to a comfotable finetuning...

Great to hear that you solved it.

Just a note...Drummica is using Kontakt 5 as the hosting app. :-)

Best Regards

Hello,
for info, I use Drummica ( inkl. Kontact) as VST plugin, because I run an MP3player simultaneously for playalone.
VSTHost from hermannseib & the askywale mp3player plugin (all freeware).

Hi,
I only have one MIDI Port called "MegaDrum USB MIDI" when I connect via USB. Both in Software Host "SD 2.0 Solo" (Options/MIDI Devices) and in MDM (Main/Options).
Did I miss something? I've got an Atmega644 20M, latest firmware 20131111. Do I have to activate any MIDI extensions in MDM or the hardware? Or update the pluged PIC 18F 13K50 USB-chip separatly, or should its update already be within the firmware from 20131111? If not, can somebody please post the link (if exists) for the instruction of updating the USB-chip with the *.hex file (that is found just below the firmware link in "downloads")? I've just found the instruction for updating the main firmware...
Or do I have to build up a workaround with MIDI-OX because PIC 18F 13K50 doesn't provide the 2 ports?

cheers

You have to update the PIC18F13K50 the link is here

http://www.megadrum.info/downloads.php

It look like you have to program it with a proper programmer and NOT insitu via ICSP
