MDM bug report (custom pads names problem)

Postby privatex » Tue Apr 14, 2015 4:46 pm

I changed names of four pads and after restart of MD I cant see my new pad names after 'Get All'. Only way to appear again is by pressing 'Get' in Pads menu for certain pad which have changed name (and I have to do same for each pad with customised name). It is a little annoying.
Fresh new bug report topic.

I tried to reproduce it but couldn't.

First test:
1. Power MegaDrum with default settings.
2. In MDM click 'Open MIDI'.
3. In MDM do 'Get All'.
4. In MDM change input 1 Name from 'Kick' to 'Mtronome'.
5. In MDM 'Save to Slot 1'.
6. In MDM click 'Close MIDI'.
7. Power cycle (disconnect/re-connect) MegaDrum.
8. In MDM click 'Open MIDI'.
9. In MDM change input 1 Name 'Mtronome' back to 'Kick'.
10. In MDM do 'Get All'

After that in both 'Input' field and 'Name' field it changes to 'Mtronome'.

Second test:
1. Power MegaDrum with default settings.
2. In MDM click 'Open MIDI'.
3. In MDM do 'Get All'.
4. In MDM go to last two inputs - 30 Aux7H/31 Aux7R.
5. In MDM change input 31 Name from 'Aux7R' to 'FngrSnap'.
6. In MDM 'Save to Slot 1'.
7. In MDM click 'Close MIDI'.
8. Power cycle (disconnect/re-connect) MegaDrum.
9. In MDM click 'Open MIDI'.
10. In MDM change input 31 Name from 'FngrSnap' back to 'Aux7R'.
11. In MDM do 'Get All'

After that in 'Input' field it changes to '30 Aux7H/31 FingrSnap' and 'Name' field of 'Rim/Edge' input changes to 'FngrSnap'.

Please describe your steps when you encounter the issue with more details, e.g. like I did it above.

This was fast reply, I am grateful.
This happens when you turn MDM off in windows explorer after saving new names for inputs. After reopening MDM and 'Get all' command custom pad names does not appear.
Try after reopening MDM in windows to find that customized input in 'Pads/Input" and press 'Get' or 'GetAll' you will hopefully see what I mean.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. As far as I can see with the two tests above I did what you described. Did I miss any steps or should I drop any steps to be able to reproduce the issue? Can you suggest EXACT steps, as I did with my two tests, for me to reproduce the issue?

As I see it at this stage you shouldn't need to do a 'get all' for the pad names. This info is stored in the mds and MDM should read that on start up.

Have you really enabled the global setting Customized Name and configure names in MDM and stored it to your MD?

I am guessing when cold booting MDM and doing a get all...the default is the Customized names is unchecked. If you enable this first before doing a get all you will get all names etc.

But I could be complete wrong....

My MDM never act like this.

@angr77: Yes it is enabled and I tried enabling before 'getall' command-no change.

@dmitri: You need to close your MDM in windows explorer (pressing 'X' on MDM window :p). Nevermind, best way is makeing a screen video of MDM in action so here it is.

When I open MDM I never get configuration that I stored in MD so I need to go with 'GetAll' command (do you really have all parameters of your custom conf. showed in MDM after opening?).
As you see my custom pad names wont show up. I first show you how MDM behave with my old custom pad names, after that I changed one pad name and tried same again without success.

Well, I don't know what others do but here's my workflow.

turn on MD
turn on MDM and send all (seems to be quicker than get all)
Any adjustments, I make in MDM and when satisfied 'save to slot' and 'save all'
The save all puts an mds file on your pc which MDM reads on start up.
